Education- Education Assistant
The Education Assistant program has been developed to comply with the rules and regulations as outlined by the Ministry of Education. It is designed specifically to address the responsibilities and challenges facing support staff in our schools. We place an emphasis on developing student skills in the areas of Special Education, Classroom Literacy and Behaviour Management. In addition, students complete a number of professional workshops designed to provide a well-rounded educational experience. The course is taught by highly respected, recently retired Ontario teachers, each of whom has taken responsibility for key areas of the curriculum. Our students are able to make an immediate, positive impact in the schools and to meet the needs of children in today’s classrooms.

Health Sciences- Pharmacy Assistant
The Pharmacy Assistant program at KLC College: Healthcare, Business, Education is a 29- week diploma program registered by the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities.
Graduates of the KLC program will be prepared to work in retail settings upon completion of the program. Their responsibilities include assisting in the preparations of prescriptions under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

The Pharmacy Technician Program at KLC College is a 40-week diploma program that provides students with the theoretical, practical, and experiential learning experiences to prepare them for a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT). Pharmacy Technicians are vital members of our health care team who protect the security and integrity of the drug distribution system, and collaborate with other health care professionals to enhance medication safety and optimize drug therapy outcomes for all Canadians.
The Pharmacy Technician Program curriculum meets the competencies and outcomes set forth by the Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association (CPTEA), the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA), and the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP). Our educational program prepares graduates to meet entry-to-practice requirements as a Registered Pharmacy Technician and offers a seamless transition to the workplace.
The Pharmacy Technician Program at KLC College: Healthcare, Business, Education has been awarded status of Full Accreditation by the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs for a four year term January 1st, 2017 - December 31, 2020.
Graduates of the Pharmacy Technician Program at KLC College are allowed to continue the registration process with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP). After pre-registering with the OCP, graduates may proceed to Structured Practical Training (SPT), write the Jurisprudence Exam, and complete the Qualifying Exams with the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC).

Healthcare- Child and Youth Care Worker
The Child and Youth Worker program is designed to prepare students to provide frontline treatment service to emotionally troubled and disturbed children and youth. Students in this 2 year (74 week) program will receive specific education and skill development related to child management techniques, family support interventions, therapeutic relationships, designing treatment programs (for both individuals and groups) and working within multi-disciplinary teams. They will specialize in supporting change with children, youth and their families who are experiencing a range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges and implement a range of prevention, intervention and treatment strategies for children, youth and their families including crisis intervention, conflict management, problem solving, counselling, activity programming, and group work.
This diploma program is delivered in two academic years and includes classroom and placement experiences.
The curriculum encourages self-reflective practice in which the student will explore his or her own values, beliefs, attitudes and assumptions relating to human behaviour and relationships. Faculty will work closely with students to support skills development and growth in communication techniques and counselling theory and practice. It is important that students possess emotional maturity and physical well-being to effectively deal with the stresses of helping troubled children and adolescents find positive solutions.

The Intra-Oral Dental Assisting program is a 47-week diploma program, approved as a vocational program under the Private Career Colleges Act, 2005, which meets the requirements of H.A.R.P. (Healing Arts Radiating Protection Act), allowing the graduate to take x-rays in the Province of Ontario.
This course includes a 4-week student practicum during the second semester. Upon successful completion of the Intra-Oral Dental Assisting program, the graduate is eligible to write the NDAEB Exam. The success rate of our students is consistent with the National average.
This is a full-time program. The student will attend a Clinic Theory class to practice their hands-on skills, such as oral evacuation, instrument transfer, rubber dam application, practical radiography, pit and fissure sealant application, coronal polishing, etc.

The Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Assistant program is a 44-week diploma course registered under the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Health Writing Skills and Computers in Health Care are included as a component of the course to offer graduates the flexibility of working alongside therapists and/or handling reception duties.
Some class sessions will be held in a rehabilitation setting. Some evening courses may also be required.

This program was developed as part of the Ontario Government’s plan to reform long-term care and support services which are provided to people in long-term care facilities or living at home in the community.
A PSW assists with the tasks of daily living. Services are provided in homes and apartments in the community, in long-term care facilities, congregate housing settings, hospitals and day programmes. Personal Support Workers must develop a broad range of abilities beyond dexterity skills. They must provide not only for the comfort, safety and well-being of their clients, but also demonstrate sensitivity and respect for those in their care. The attitude, abilities and approach of the worker are critical to the well-being and health of the people they support.
In the full-time course, class meets Monday through Friday. There is a student internship component at the end of the program.
